Music has always been a vital part of my life. It’s the poetry that dictates our days, emotions, and helps tell/share our stories. As a lover of that good ol’ rock n roll you can bet a trip to London wasn’t complete without visiting Abbey Road Studios.  The goal is to re-enact the iconic album cover of The Beatles infamous “Abbey Road”. You’ve probably seen this pic before on instagram, but what people don’t mention is that this isn’t a main street crossing with stop lights. You have about a 10 second window to run across a super busy street and snap your photo then run for your life. We literally watched a girl get hit by a car because she didn’t cross fast enough, it clipped her right in the leg and she was genuinely injured. That being said it was really cute to see four grown men in full Beatles costumes trying to have a photoshoot. Here is our attempt:

Brownie points to Jenna for pulling a Paul McCartney and going barefoot.

Cautionary tales aside, it’s actually a really special place to be. Not just because you’re standing where 4 legends stood, but also because a lot of inspired musicians come to play outside the studio hoping to get discovered. We watched one couple do their own rendition of Here Comes the Sun (playing tribute to the Beatles) but adding in their own rap versus. It made the experience feel authentic. Here is a quick snippet of the duo, I really hope they ended up being discovered by someone, and if not just know that your music certainly made our day:)

Before we left Abbey Road we signed the wall outside of the studio. Although Graffiti is normally frowned upon, this is a spot where hundreds of visitors from all over the world sign their names, their favourite Beatles lyrics/songs etc. It’s basically a right of passage. For lunch and souvenir hunting we hit up Camden Market. This place is FULL of tasty food. I’m talking freshly made crepes, smoothies, Caribbean food, vegan and gluten friendly eats. It also is home to different art and fashion vendors, so if you have an afternoon to kill it’s a nice spot right near the canals.

The Run Down.
